Semi Truck Accident Along the Red River Ends In Flames

A semi truck crash on the Red River Bridge on Highway 69/75 shut down the southbound lanes for more than 11 hours. Emergency workers on both sides of the Red River responded to the crash that occurred during foggy weather. The southbound lanes were shut down around 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday after a semi truck exploded into flames after colliding with another semi truck.

Medical personnel at the scene of the crash said that driver escaped the wreck unharmed. Southbound traffic was backed up for several miles as authorities moved quickly to redirect it to Highway 91 over the Denison Dam. Authorities worked all night to clean up the debris. According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, the Texas Department of Transportation inspected the bridge for damage and worked to clear it up for reopening this morning.

Another semi truck burst into flames at Gene's Tires at 46 E. Main St. The flames were brought under control in 10 minutes, but firefighters remained on the scene to control various hotspots. The tractor trailer was carrying old tires.
